When I first came across AIRI, I was just looking for a space where I could use my skills for something meaningful. As a young UI/UX designer in Lagos, most of the opportunities I saw were commercial — designing for clients, apps, or businesses. But deep down, I wanted my work to make a difference. Joining AIRI as a volunteer changed everything. Instead of just creating screens, I was helping fellows translate complex research into clear, human-centered designs. I worked on startup prototypes that were more than products — they were solutions to real African problems. For the first time, I saw how design could be a tool for impact, not just aesthetics.
